What Happened to Olsen Twins? Is Their Louis Vuitton Ad Real?

The Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, are the latest victims of AI-generated fake images. These images appeared on TikTok, where some people claimed that they were from a Louis Vuitton Christmas photoshoot. However, a simple Google search would’ve proved that the Olsen twins did not collaborate with the brand for any campaigns.

A recent trend on social media has been to post distorted pictures of celebrities using AI, claiming it as their fashion choice. Miley Cyrus was earlier a victim of this disgusting trend. The images of the twins received significant attention, with unaware fans bashing them for the photos.

Mary-Kate and Ashley have stayed away from the spotlight for some time now. In September 2025, they made their first public appearance together since 2022. They stepped out for a W Magazine party at New York Fashion Week, where they looked stylish and lively as ever (via E! Online).

Their previous public outing was in 2022, when they celebrated their fashion brand, The Row, at the Paris Fashion Week.

The Olsen twins made their acting debut at the age of 1, appearing as Michelle Tanner on Full House. The twins took turns playing the character from 1987 to 1995. The siblings were not only young stars but also produced their own programming as kids.

Their company, Dualstar Entertainment Group, produced shows like Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley and So Little Time, and a string of successful direct-to-video movies like Passport to Paris, Switching Goals, Our Lips Are Sealed, Winning London, and Holiday in the Sun.

They appeared in a few movies in the early 2000s, making their final appearance together in New York Minute in 2004. Mary-Kate Olsen went on to have a solo career until 2012, appearing in a few movies and TV shows. Ashley Olsen largely retired from acting in 2004, only making minor appearances in movies and music videos.

The Olsen twins’ retirement from Hollywood primarily stemmed from their goal of a career in fashion. In 1999, they launched their first successful girls’ clothing line with Walmart. In 2005, they founded their luxury clothing line called The Row. They are also the founders of the lifestyle brand Elizabeth and James and the more affordable fashion brands, Olsenboye and StyleMint.

They are members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and co-authored a book, Influence, featuring interviews with popular fashion designers. Most recently, in November 2024, the sisters opened a new store for The Row in Paris (via Vogue). The Row stores are also located in New York City, East Hampton, Los Angeles, and London.

The Olsen twins sold a minority stake in The Row at a valuation of $1 billion in September 2024 (via Celebrity Net Worth). It was estimated that they have a combined net worth of $1 billion.

As for their personal lives, Mary-Kate was married to Olivier Sarkozy, a French banker and half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. They got divorced in 2021. Ashley has been married to artist Louis Eisner since 2022, and they have a son together, Otto, born in 2023.

Full House Co-Stars Talk About the Olsen Twins

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s most popular role was probably their debut role as Michelle Tanner. The twins apparently excelled in their own ways in character, something their acting coach Adria explained to The Washington Post in 1991. She claimed that Ashley was good at dialogue-heavy scenes while Mary-Kate thrived in shots with more action.

Now, the Olsen twins’ co-stars on the show, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, opened up about the twins’ dynamic on the show. Sweetin, who played Michelle’s sister Stephanie, and Barber, who played their neighbor Kimmy, are hosts of the How Rude, Tanneritos podcast.

Sweetin admitted that the directors favored one twin over the other at one point in the show. She shared, “It was Ashley. Mary-Kate did not like being out on set, but Ashley was like, ‘Cool, Whatevs.’ She was much more kind of docile about it.” Sweetin further explained:

That’s absolutely who they are. Ashley will be like, ‘Sure, whatevs.’ Mary Kate was like, ‘I don’t want to do this.’ There would be certain scenes that one would do and what the other one wouldn’t or something like that.

Barber agreed to Sweetin’s comments. The actress further added that the twins were still “a package deal.” She explained how the show needed the twins to comply with the time rules for kids on set.
