Who are the Teenage Kix? The Boys Season 5 new supes & powers explained

Prime Video

If you’re a fan of The Boys, you will have heard the Teenage Kix name before. But in Season 5 Episode 2 we get to meet the supe group for reals, so let’s take a look at who they are, their powers, and how they stack up against their comic book counterparts.

Ultimately, The Boys’ fifth and final chapter is about the burgeoning war between Homelander and Butcher, but there are plenty of surprises along the way – and many moving parts.

It’s hard to predict where the story will take us, as while the Prime Video series takes inspiration from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic books, it doesn’t follow the story closely (Homelander and Soldier Boy aren’t even related in the source material).

Alongside the main gang, showrunner Eric Kripke likes to add in supes from the comics as fun gags for comic readers (see Tek Knight’s “sidekick” in Season 4). Now, it’s time for Teenage Kix to enter the spotlight. Warning: spoilers ahead!

Teenage Kix is Vought International’s teenage superhero team. Think of them like the younger version of the Seven, and The Boys’ answer to DC’s Young Justice and Teen Titans, as well as Marvel’s Young Avengers and Runaways.

Much like the Seven, the members of the group can change depending on who Vought selects. Earlier seasons of The Boys revealed that A-Train used to be in the Teenage Kix, as did his late ex-girlfriend Popclaw. In The Boys Season 4, Ryan was offered a spot in the group.

As per Season 5, the members include Countess Crow, Sheline, Jetstreak, and Rock Hard, and their jobs mostly entail flogging Vought merch on TikTok and rounding up Starlighters to send to “Freedom Camps”. Let’s delve into each of them and what we know so far:

Countess Crow

Played by Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Countess Crow is introduced through Vought-branded social content, leaning heavily into a gothic aesthetic. She promotes beauty products such as Black Noir’s eyeliner while maintaining a carefully curated online persona.

Her powers center around her connection with crows, which she can communicate with and command. Previously controlling a larger flock, she now has two remaining birds – named Russell and Cameron – which she uses to survey targets and carry out attacks on command.

Sheline

Played by Bet star Emma Elle Paterson, Sheline is another member of Teenage Kix heavily tied to Vought’s marketing machine, appearing in promotional content for low-calorie drinks and wellness products. Her behavior and powers are all connected to cats.

This includes enhanced strength, agility, and retractable claws, allowing her to pounce on targets in combat. There are also some more, ahem, unusual traits, such as coughing up furballs and using a giant cat little tray to do her business in.

Jetstreak

Prime Video

Played by Dare Me star Dylan Colton, Jetstreak is another member who’s frequently shown in Vought-sponsored content, including promotions for Firecracker’s Flaming Freedom Sticks (The Boys’ version of Hot Cheetos).

Much like the rest of Teenage Kix, he also assists in rounding up Starlighters. He has the ability to fly, making him useful for Homelander’s regime. He may also possess additional capabilities, although the show is yet to fully reveal his powers.

Rock Hard

Rock Hard is a physically imposing member of Teenage Kix, with a body composed entirely of rock-like material. His abilities include enhanced durability, and, well, he ejaculates lava, which is why he’s so big.

Every time he releases, lava forms new rock material, much like a volcano. In case you hadn’t guessed it yet, he appears to be a satirical take on Marvel’s Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

Teenage Kix in The Boys comics

In The Boys comics, Teenage Kix are a minor superhero team operated by Vought-American, positioned as a younger, more rebellious alternative to traditional groups like the Seven. Marketed towards a teenage audience, they are designed to feel “edgy” and modern.

Teenage Kix are portrayed as immature and reckless, often engaging in controversial behavior behind the scenes. Their activities eventually attract the attention of the Boys, who investigate the group as part of their wider mission to expose Vought’s corruption.

This leads to one of the team’s most significant storylines, where the Boys gather evidence of their misconduct and confront them directly. The encounter turns into a violent clash, resulting in the accidental death of member Blarney Cock.

Following this, the members of the Teenage Kix in the comics include:

  • Big Game – A physically imposing supe with enhanced strength and the ability to fly, he’s the leader of the Teenage Kix
  • Dogknott – A supe with dog-like traits, he’s someone we’ve already met in The Boys TV show (although the two versions look very different)
  • Gunpowder – Little is known about his powers other than he’s a gun-toting supe, and one we’ve also met in the TV show (again, both versions are different to each other)
  • Jetstreak – A supe with superhuman strength, The Boys TV show also portrays him as having the ability to fly
  • Popclaw – A supe with retractable claws and enhanced strength, Popclaw is the only woman in the comic version of Teenage Kix, and she appears in Season 1 of the show as A-Train’s girlfriend
  • Whack Job – A violent and unstable member of the team, Whack Job has both enhanced strength and electrokinesis powers

The Boys Season 5 Episodes 1-2 are streaming on Prime Video now, with Episode 3 set to drop on April 15. Until then, check out what we know about spinoff Vought Rising and Gen V Season 3.
