Sandfall Interactive has released Patch 1.3.0 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It’s not a massive patch, but it does add a couple of new features to the critically-acclaimed JRPG.
First, you’ll now be able to rematch Simon, one of the most difficult bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, after defeating him the first time.
There are several changes associated with difficulty included in the patch. The game’s easiest difficulty, «Story Mode» has had its dodge and parry windows increased by 40 per cent, and incoming damage reduced by between 10 and 50 per cent. Considering it’s the easiest difficulty, Sandfall obviously felt it should be as easy as possible, and the changes reflect this.
New Challenge Modifiers
There are also new «challenge modifiers» which are available at flags in the third act. These allow you to change the player’s maximum damage output from 9,999 to 99,999 or 999,999. This makes fights easier, as player damage per attack is no longer capped.
You’ll also have the option to multiply enemy health by x2, x5, x10, x20, x50 or x100. This offers a granular challenge for players who are looking for that. It’s a neat change, and a quick way of giving players additional difficulty options without implementing a new difficulty mode, or adding fully customisable difficulty options.
There are also 297 bug fixes included in the patch, including the addressment of various crashes and performance drops.
Sandfall Interactive is committed to supporting Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 post-launch, with a couple of key features currently in the works. These include the highly requested photo mode and a loadout system for Lumina to make switching between builds easier.
«It’s very high on the list of things we want to do because, obviously, it’s requested a lot,» said art director Nicholas Maxon on implementing photo mode. «It’s a lot more work than some stuff […] but it’s definitely something we would like to do.»
