'You See Hank Hill in a Whole New Way': King of the Hill Sequel Series Gets an Exciting Tease

The animated series King of the Hill is getting a revival. Following in the footsteps of Futurama, the new series will be heading to Hulu for a streaming release.

With the new show in the works, the King of the Hill revival recently got an exciting tease from Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich. While speaking with Variety, Erwich addressed the recent news that Disney had doled out four-year deals to renew The Simpsons and Family Guy, and he noted how Hulu will serve as the home for adult animation. Along with hosting the new Futurama, that’s what also makes Hulu ideal for the new King of the Hill, as Erwich explained.

«I think we’re really happy with the arrangement that we have,» he said. «Hulu is the home to adult animation. We have the best offering by a mile. The Simpsons, Family Guy, past and now new seasons of Futurama, and past and now new seasons of King of the Hill

Erwich further teased, «I think people are going to love the new King of the Hill. It is so perfect for our times without trying too hard. You see Hank Hill in a whole new way

The new show will use a time jump, picking up at a different point in the lives of the Hill family. Bobby is now an adult working as a chef, marking another key change fans can expect to see. It’s also known that many original series stars will be included in the revival, though it will be bittersweet for fans to hear the voice of Johnny Hardwick as the fan favorite character Dale. Hardwick passed away in 2023 with the revival in production, but he had reportedly finished recording some of his lines for the show before his death.

The Revival Is Bittersweet

«It feels really special,» Bobby Hill voice actor Pamela Adlon said of the revival previously, per Variety. «There’s a whole bunch of — like a new generation of young writers who are writing the scripts and finding the sweet spot of the classic, the vintage King of the Hill, and the new era. So, we’re very blessed. It’s hard because we lost Johnny Hardwick, and he had recorded four episodes, and that feels really raw. But, he’s there with us. It feels like a family. It feels really good.»

Brittany Murphy (Luanne) and Tom Petty (Lucky) have also both passed away since the original series ended. The original King of the Hill also featured the voices of Mike Judge (Hank, Boomhauer), Kathy Najimy (Peggy), Stephen Root (Bill), and Minh (Lauren Tom).

King of the Hill is streaming on Hulu.
