After sneaking onto the pitch during the opening game of Euro 2024, one YouTuber could now be forced to pay up to $26,000 in fines.

German YouTuber Marvin Wildhage (known professionally as Marvin) has made a name for himself by going undercover to sneak into events, find out the truth about things, and generally cause a bit of mischief.

However, when he made his way onto the pitch before a match between Germany and Scotland during Euro 2024, he managed to land himself in hot water.

Marvin Wildhage pretended to be a mascot for big game

Dressing as the Euro 2024 mascot known as Albart and forging documentation to get him past security, Wildhage was able to rub shoulders with footballers on the pitch, but it raised serious concerns about the safety of the event itself.

Wildhage shared a video of the whole process, but the viral incident has now led to him facing criminal charges and a potentially massive fine.

He will appear in court on May 13 after being charged with six counts of document forgery and obtaining services by deception.

Wildhage’s fine is expected to be set at around $20,000, which is what authorities demanded on the basis of 70 daily fines of just under $300 each. He initially objected, and the case will now go to court to be settled one way or another.

There is also a further $6,300 that could be added to the fine, as a reflection of the alleged profits Wildhage made on the video in question.

On top of all that, because Wildhage shared screenshots of the official penalty order earlier this year, legal expert Marc Wederhake has said the YouTuber could even face a one-year prison sentence, though that charge may well be dropped if the original case leads to a conviction.
