Watching a level one fox slowly blow a single flame onto your furnace for twenty minutes is a fantastic way to stall your entire progression.

Smelting ores and cooking complex meals are two of the most critical logistical bottlenecks in your factory. Everything you build, from primitive crossbows to the sci-fi weaponry outlined in my Palworld 1.0 new weapons crafting guide, requires a steady supply of processed ingots. If your base relies entirely on low-tier Fire-types, you’ll end up standing around staring at progress bars instead of actually exploring the new zones. Pocketpair completely overhauled the level ceilings for base workers in the 1.0 update, meaning your old assembly lines are likely severely outdated. Before you waste hours waiting for basic resources to cook, I mapped out the absolute best Kindling workers in the game and the smartest ways to automate your heat sources.
The Best Endgame Kindling Specialists
If you want your base operating at maximum efficiency, you can’t rely on generalist workers. You need absolute specialists who do nothing but stare at the furnace.
If you just want raw, uninterrupted smelting power, Jormuntide Ignis is the undisputed king. It boasts a staggering Level 7 Kindling stat and possesses zero other work suitabilities. This means it will never get distracted and walk away from your Electric Furnace to go pick up a piece of stray wood. It just cooks.
If you want a worker who can pull double duty during downtime, Blazamut (and its Ryu variant) are fantastic secondary choices. They pack a massive Level 6 Kindling stat alongside a Level 7 Mining stat. This setup makes them perfect for mining outposts, they can mine massive stacks of ore and instantly pivot to smelting them down into ingots without needing a second worker.
If you’re still early in the game and can’t dream of catching a massive dragon yet, you have to prioritize efficiency. Foxparks is your best bet for the opening hours simply because it spawns right next to the starting beaches. If you aren’t sure who else you should be packing into your beginner camp, read through my Palworld 1.0 best early game pals guide to get your roster sorted.
The Complete Kindling Tier List
To help you audit your current workforce, I broke down the top-performing Fire types across the entire Paldeck. Note that you can actually push a Pal’s baseline work stat higher using the Pal Essence Condenser. If you sacrifice enough duplicates to push a worker to a 4-Star rank, their base work suitability permanently increases by one level.
| Kindling Level | The Best Pals for the Job |
|---|---|
| Level 7 | Jormuntide Ignis |
| Level 6 | Blazamut, Blazamut Ryu |
| Level 4 | Wixen Noct, Petallia Ignis, Pyrin (and Noct), Chillet Ignis, Ragnahawk, Kitsun Noct, Loomen |
| Level 3 | Arsox, Wixen, Katress Ignis, Kitsun, Skutlass Ignis, Sootseer, Faleris |
If you don’t feel like manually hunting down a Jormuntide Ignis inside the new irradiated biomes highlighted in my Palworld 1.0 world tree guide, you can just hatch one from the safety of your base. Take a look at my Palworld best breeding combos guide to find the exact parental combinations required to breed an elite fire specialist.
Why You Need Kindling Automation
Kindling isn’t just for making metal. It governs three entirely different base mechanics, meaning you might need multiple Fire types running simultaneously to keep your camp functional.
Processing and Smelting
The most obvious use case is refining ore. You need a constant stream of heat to operate the Primitive Furnace, Improved Furnace, and Electric Furnace. Without a dedicated fire worker, these stations sit completely dead. If you want to permanently speed up all smelting tasks at your base, build a Flame Cauldron. This passive structure significantly buffs the work speed of any Pal actively using Kindling inside your base radius.
Mass Cooking
Unless you plan on starving to death in the middle of a dungeon, you need an active kitchen. A high-tier Kindling Pal can operate Cooking Pots and Electric Kitchens to rapidly churn through massive stacks of raw meat and berries. This is especially vital when you start fielding massive Level 80 dragons in your active party, as their massive hunger bars will completely drain your food supplies if you aren’t cooking in bulk.
Egg Incubation and Warmth
If you build a base up in the frozen peaks, you’re going to freeze to death without a heat source. More importantly, proper temperature control dictates your egg incubation times. If you’re trying to hatch Scorching Eggs, keeping an active Heater nearby will cut the incubation timer entirely in half. Assigning a fire worker to maintain that heat gives you a massive advantage when building your ultimate breeding farm.
