A retirement community is set to open a cannabis kiosk, giving its senior residents the chance to purchase marijuana products without the need to travel to dispensaries.
In Arizona, recreational majiuana was legalized in November 2020, with retail sales officially being permitted in 2022. A 2024 poll conducted by The Tarrance Group found that 86% of Arizona voters support the use of medical marijuana, while 69% supported adult-use legalization.
Now, cannabis brand Life is Chill is partnering with cannabis technology company LoveBud to install a kiosk at a retirement community in Arizona.
The kiosk will open at Sun Lakes Country Club, AZ
As per a statement from Life is Chill, the cannabis kiosk will officially open on August 19 in Chandler, Arizona at the Sun Lakes Country Club, a community of roughly 2,000 residents. The residence also features a golf course, heated pools, and a clubhouse.
The kiosk features an “Easy Mode” that was specifically designed with older adults, who may not know how smartphone apps or traditional dispensaries work, in mind. It features larger, easy-to-read navigation buttons, a choice selection of cannabis products, and a simplified dispensary process.
More than 12,000 residents throughout the greater Sun Lakes community will have access.
“At Sun Lakes Country Club, our goal is to provide our members with access to trusted resources that support their overall health and well-being,” said Joe Rizzo, Director of Food and Beverage at Sun Lakes.
“By partnering with organizations like Life is Chill, we’re giving our community another opportunity to learn about all of the options available to them.”
Dr. Dana Lillestol, senior education advocate at Life Is Chill, said of the kiosk: “From the beginning, our goal has been to simplify the cannabis experience for seniors. Through our relationship with the Sun Lakes communities, we saw an opportunity to bring together trusted products, personalized guidance, and technology that’s genuinely easy to use.”
