A deli has awarded unlimited popcorn chicken to a four-year-old child who has been undergoing chemotherapy and hasn’t eaten any other protein for eight months.
His father, Omar Sakr, posted on Instagram explaining that the popcorn chicken from Roman’s Deli just outside Sydney, Australia, is the only source of protein he’s had since treatment started for a liver condition.
“I’m not being dramatic when I say this got him through the past 8 months of chemotherapy, it is quite literally the only protein he eats,” he wrote. “Otherwise it’s all crackers, crisps, snacks, and milk.”
“So thank you Roman’s, not sure why my toddler is fixated on your side dish but he is.”

The sandwich shop clearly caught wind of the story, as Sakr posted a follow-up post on X, revealing that Roman’s Deli had granted his son as much popcorn chicken as he can eat for free.
“Yesterday I posted on insta about how the only protein my son has eaten in 8mo of cancer and chemo is popcorn chicken from Romans Deli – no other will do – and they responded by saying he could have free unlimited popcorn chicken,” he explained.
He also received a laminated “golden ticket,” which reads: “This card grants our little super-hero Nayirr unlimited supply of popcorn chicken bites.”

The father called the deli’s employees “beautiful people,” and others agreed, as the story received plenty of love on social media, with replies praising the gesture and wishing Nayirr well.
“This made me smile. Prayers for your son’s healing,” said one response, while another wrote: “This is what humanity should be about.”
