An elderly man from Florida has been arrested after he claimed he got “scammed” by a woman he met on Tinder and ended up chasing her and her friends in his car.
If you’re on a dating app, you’re very well aware that you can tweak different settings and prompts so that you can try to meet the ‘perfect’ person for you. Some apps now even have height verification, seeing as that has become such an important parameter for some.
Well, in the case of 67-year-old David Allen O’Brien, from Florida, he was on Tinder trying to find a ‘sugar baby’. O’Brien was essentially looking for a companion that he could shower with money anytime they needed and when they hooked up.
The 67-year-old ended up matching with a 21-year-old from Florida, who he reportedly promised to give $1000 to with every date. However, after they met for the first time and handed over $800, he ended up being arrested.

As per Fox News, O’Brien was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and aggravated battery after he chased the woman and her friends down in his car.
According to the report, the 67-year-old felt that he had been “scammed” by his Tinder match and her friends, and wanted his money back. He collided with the car, which had four passengers in it, and while three of them fled, O’Brien managed to come face-to-face with one man.

In that confrontation, it is reported that he pointed his gun at the male and threatened to shoot him. However, O’Brien didn’t, and ended up in handcuffs after police intervened.
As per the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, O’Brien is scheduled to be in court on August 14 for his arraignment.
O’Brien could face up to 15 years and a $10,000 fine if found guilty of the aggravated assault charge, while aggravated battery could add an extra year or two to that potential sentence.
