Elon Musk has officially become the world’s very first trillionaire after taking SpaceX public.
SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX) traded shares publicly on the stock market for the first time on June 12, 2026, with shares going for $150 a pop, $15 over their initial asking price of $135 per share.
The IPO (initial public offering) garnered a record-setting amount of $75 billion. This now values the aerospace manufacturing and SATCOM company at an eye-popping $1.8 trillion.
Elon’s 38% share in SpaceX has now risen to approximately $982 billion, pushing his total financial valuation to an estimated $1.1 trillion — making him the first trillionaire in the entire world.

Musk is notably the largest shareholder of Tesla, where he owns over 500 million shares, giving him ownership around 15 – 28% of the auto company’s stock.
This, combined with his other significant shares in SpaceX and Starlink, has pushed the world’s richest man to even greater heights.
Musk was first declared the world’s richest man in 2021 after Tesla stock shoved him past a $185 net worth, beating out the former title holder, Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos.
Things were already looking good for Musk on Thursday night after SpaceX priced shares at $135, with his net worth rising from $188 billion to a whopping $982 billion.
