Ferrari has officially revealed its first fully electric vehicle, the Ferrari Luce, with the car’s design developed in collaboration with former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his design firm LoveFrom.

Ive is widely known for shaping many of Apple’s most iconic products during his time at the company, including the iPhone, iMac, iPod, MacBook, Apple Watch, and iPad. He worked closely with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and played a major role in defining the minimalist design style that became associated with the tech giant.

The Italian automaker unveiled the EV on May 25, marking a major shift for the brand best known for its V8 and V12 supercars. The Luce is a four-door, five-seat electric vehicle featuring more than 1,000 horsepower, a reported 0 to 62 mph time of 2.5 seconds, and a starting price around €550,000.

Ferrari chairman John Elkann previously partnered with LoveFrom in 2021, bringing Ive and fellow designer Marc Newson onto the project as Ferrari began developing its first EV.

Ferrari’s EV features Apple-inspired design touches

The Luce’s interior leans heavily into minimalist styling associated with Ive’s work at Apple, combining glass, aluminum, OLED displays, and physical controls throughout the cockpit. Ferrari and LoveFrom said the design intentionally mixes digital interfaces with tactile buttons and switches instead of relying entirely on touchscreens.

Early previews of the car highlighted details including a glass gear selector, rotating center display, anodized aluminum trim, and physical steering wheel controls inspired by Ferrari’s racing heritage.

Ferrari said the EV was designed to retain the feel of a traditional Ferrari despite dropping the combustion engine. The company also developed a custom sound system and simulated mechanical feedback to recreate elements associated with its gas-powered vehicles.

The Ferrari reveal comes as luxury brands continue leaning into Apple nostalgia and Steve Jobs’ legacy for high-end collectors.
