Florida Woman Attacks Police Officer Moments After He Loosens Her Handcuffs: ‘She Was Instantly Regretting Her Choice’

Freedom lasted zero seconds

A Florida police officer tried to help a handcuffed woman after she complained that her handcuffs were too tight. Instead, the situation quickly turned violent. Moments after the officer loosened one of the handcuffs, the woman allegedly swung at him. He responded by deploying his Taser, which led to an even bigger incident.

According to the Instagram account policeposts, the officer tried to loosen the woman’s handcuffs after she said they were too tight. As soon as one cuff was loosened, she allegedly attacked him and made threats toward the officer.

The officer then used his Taser. According to the post, one of the Taser probes hit a mobile phone in the woman’s pocket, causing the phone’s battery to overheat and catch fire. As the struggle continued, the woman fell to the ground, and her wig came off. The officer was eventually able to regain control and handcuff her again.

Internet Reacts to Florida Officer Taser Incident

The video attracted a lot of attention on Reddit’s r/PublicFreakout, where many users supported the officer. One commenter wrote, “She was instantly regretting her choice to attack the officer.” Another said, “Sorry but this one is on her. Or Mental health issues. Either way – cop seems to have acted as expected.”

A third user wrote, “Genuinely. Zero consideration for the consequences of actions. It’s almost impressive to think people this stupid can exist.” Another commenter added, “This needs to be a nomination for the end of the year freakout.”

One more simply wrote, “Victim victim victim.”

Taser probes causing fires after striking electronic devices is uncommon but has happened before. According to AZFamily, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officer used a Taser at an Arizona petrol station last week, and one of the probes reportedly started a fire that left a man with burns.

North Port Police have also released body camera footage of other recent Taser incidents, including one involving a theft suspect who was chased through a car park.

In Florida, attacking a police officer while in custody can lead to a felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, which carries much tougher penalties than a standard battery charge.
