Who does he think he is?

When you move to a new neighborhood, you expect to be treated with respect and open arms. But that’s not what happened to one Florida woman. The day she moved into her new home, a Karen decided to stop traffic just to question her.

TikTok user Dannyinfocus (Danny), posted a two-part video series of the confrontation on her social media. She had been driving through their new neighborhood, which is an HOA, when they came upon a gate. Instead of just letting Danny through, a bossy neighborhood Karen made a U-turn, stopped traffic, and immediately questioned her about being in the neighborhood.
Danny immediately defended herself and told him to “call the cops,” with the local man aggressively asking Danny what her address was. As if that was any of his business, Danny retorts, “You don’t need to know my address. I don’t know you.” She asks him, “How do you think I got in this community?” While all of this drama is unfolding, the Karen whips his phone out of his pocket and says he’s going to “call 911.”

In an update video, Danny breaks down exactly what led to the confrontation. She says she was dropping off some stuff at her new house. As she was leaving the neighborhood, she said the clicker to open the gate didn’t work. She reversed to turn around and leave the neighborhood another way, but the Karen came up behind her by that point. He immediately stops her with his vehicle, which in turn stops all the traffic in the neighborhood. When he approached her, she never expected he would accuse her of not belonging in her new neighborhood.
When the nosy neighbor called police, Danny also called the police to protect her own safety. Danny says she believes it was an incident of “racial profiling.” After police arrived, they told the neighbor he was in the wrong and allowed Danny to leave, even taking Danny’s word that she lived there.
People online point to racism being the problem
Not only were the comments overwhelmingly on Danny’s side, many agreed with her assessment: you don’t act this way unless it was racially motivated. The discussion also brought up the negative experience many people seem to have with living in HOAs.
“HOA is just out of control,” one of the top comments reads. In the thread, a TikTok user expanded on this, arguing it was more than just problems with HOAs. “White people are outta control. This ain’t about the HOA, though the HOAs suck too.”
One user was baffled by how the man was acting, especially of how demanding he was to get Danny’s address. “Not once in my 44yrs have I even thought to ask someone where they live,” they said. And why single Danny out? According to her, she was on her way out, anyway.
A few called the confrontation harassment, with some suggesting Danny file a lawsuit. In her update video, Danny did open up about the interaction, saying it was “super traumatic” and that she would be seeking legal counsel.
