He said it in front of an audience

Eric Daugherty took to social media to express his concerns about Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mayor Jacob Frey’s approach to a speech made on Memorial Day.
The speech honors George Floyd, who was killed by Minneapolis police in 2020, and Frey makes no mention of Memorial Day. Commenters shared their frustrations alongside the Chief Content Officer of Right Line News, with Daughtery himself calling him a “traitor.”
🚨 WTF?! Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is focused on honoring GEORGE FLOYD this Memorial Day
"Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago."
He has NOT posted about Memorial Day on his official account!

The video above is a screen recording of a post made by Mayor Frey on social media. The caption for the video reads, “Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago. That moment changed our city forever.“
This incident is what has drawn international attention to the Black Lives Matter movement, which concerns itself with police brutality and racially motivated violence against Black people. According to Eric Daughtery, Frey “has NOT posted about Memorial Day on his official account!“
The remainder of the caption reads, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH DEMOCRATS. Frey earlier this year also showed his disdain for law enforcement agents. Disrespecting the military, disrespecting the police, honoring scum like Floyd. Traitor.“
Within the video, Frey can be heard saying, in reference to ICE agents in Minneapolis, “The invasion of these heavily armed masked agents roaming around on our streets of Minneapolis, emboldened with a sense of impunity. It has to end. This is not how it has to be.“
Reactions to Mayor Frey Honoring George Floyd Instead of Memorial Day
Various commenters were in agreement with Daugherty, with one of the top comments reading, “This is outrageous for the Mayor to do!” To this, Daugherty himself replied with, “He should resign.”
Another commenter suggested that past information be left in the past, writing, “What is he doing? People have moved on from 2020. Cities burned, people were arrested, businesses were destroyed, and normal Americans paid the price. Memorial Day should be about honoring fallen service members, not dragging the country back into 2020 politics.”
It appears that many Minneapolis residents in the replies largely disagree with Frey and what he had to say. In fact, a different comment reads, “This guy’s an idiot. Wasn’t this the same mayor defending/downplaying the massive Fraud scandal in his own backyard? Hundreds of millions stolen from kids meal programs while hes out here honoring George Floyd on Memorial Day instead of our fallen heroes. Priorities are wild.”
As the video continues to go viral on X, more and more people are leaving behind comments and expressing their frustrations.
