A modder has pulled off something that sounds impossible until you watch it happen: running three separate Grand Theft Auto games at once.
Back in February, the same builder let players wander up to televisions inside San Andreas and boot up full, independent copies of GTA 3 and Vice City, each with its own saves and story progress, which already felt like a neat magic trick on its own.
Then they had the genuinely deranged idea of putting one game inside the other, and the walls between them just kind of dissolved.

The modder, who goes by Dryxio (or DryxioGTA, depending on the platform), posted a video this week of CJ flicking on a TV in his front yard, which booted up a fully playable copy of GTA 3 rendered live onto the screen itself.
A couple of days later, Dryxio went further still. Inside that same running copy of GTA 3, on a billboard-sized display, a live and fully playable session of Vice City started up too.
Dryxio was adamant that none of it was a video pasted over a prop screen, insisting instead that the games are running as genuine code, with nothing streamed in from anywhere else. The whole thing is built on ‘re3’ and ‘reVC,’ two long-running fan reimplementations of the original engines, paired with the rendering library ‘librw.’
Take-Two hit re3 with a DMCA back in 2021 to scrub it off GitHub, but that same reverse-engineered code is now running a scene inside Rockstar’s own game five years later. The mod itself doesn’t ship with GTA 3 or Vice City’s files, so anyone wanting to try it will still need to own copies of both.
While Rockstar keeps telling us more about GTA 6 ahead of its November release, some fans have gotten so desperate for scraps of the next game that they’ve even gone digging for hints in Amazon.
