Oblation: Immolation is the third and final Exotic mission that arrived with the Monument of Triumph update in Destiny 2. Here’s how to complete it. The Oblation: Immolation mission in Destiny 2 is your third and final test in this Exotic mission series, and it’s the shortest of them all, at least scale-wise. There is a big, difficult story boss fight at the end, and due reward for your efforts. Here’s how to complete Oblation: Immolation. Oblation: Immolation is the shortest of the three Exotic missions in the series. There are fewer puzzle rooms but about as much platforming as before. The final boss requires you to use all the skills you learned in the Bloodlines and Soulfed missions. The start of Immolation is the first of the platforming sections. It might seem like you should simply jump straight across, but instead, you want to make your way to the left side of the room. You’ll be jumping on the sarcophagi that are headed toward you, so watch your forward momentum. As with previous missions, you should follow where the Acolytes are standing, and at the far end of the left wall is another large sarcophagus guarded by a Wizard. Behind her is solid ground: a large platform guarded by a set of Wizards and some Acolytes. Clear all the enemies, then look for a small hole in the wall on the leftmost side that leads into a larger cave system. Cross the gap and head into the green-lit caves. When you reach what seems like a dead end, you’ll likely see the bars of the Hive chitin shimmer every few seconds. Shoot or melee these to destroy them. Take a right just after your first set of destructible bars and head down the green-lit cave path, taking another right, shooting through another set of chitin bars. Keep shooting your way through until you reach a long, wider hallway. Eventually, you’ll discover a room filled with enemies: Knights, Acolytes, and, at the back, a massive yellow-bar Ogre. You need to defeat the Ogre to open the passage deeper into the mission, so do that now. Now that the Ogre’s dead, return to the green-lit tunnel that led to this room, but don’t go in. Instead, look up and across the room from it. There’s a platform above you that you can jump up to with an Acolyte on it. Hop up. Next, jump up into the higher green-lit cave and follow the path until you enter a large pipe. Proceed to the end of the pipe, and drop down into the chamber you reach. You can then look up to one of the side walls and find another hole leading into a cave. Take a left at the closed gate, drop down into the pipe when it’s safe from soulfire, and drop into the first encounter at its end. This encounter is as straightforward as it can be deadly. When you drop into the well-lit arena with several circular rooms, a large boss will spawn. He’s called the Soulfed Bellow Stoker, and to progress the encounter, you first need to deplete his health by around a third. When he’s lost enough health, the Bellow Stoker will teleport away, and one of the plates in the circular rooms will light up. You’ll know it by the Wizard that spawns above it. You need to stand on three of these plates long enough for a progress bar (Redirecting soulfire) to fill, all while dodging gouts of soulfire that fill the hallways. The progress bar takes about 30 seconds to fill, meaning you’re bound to be attacked by a giant jet of soulfire. You can, however, stand right on the edge of the glowing plate, usually near a hallway or alcove, to avoid getting burned. The Bellow Stoker will reappear after you complete a plate, and you’ll need to take him down another third of his health bar. Repeat the process of defeating the Stoker and Redirecting soulfire three times. The stakes will rise with each phase, first by adding shield Knights, and then an Ogre for the last. When you’re done, the barrier blocking the pipe forward will lower, and you can proceed. Head into the caves and brave the long drop down until you reach another set of large sarcophagi at the bottom of the pit. Your next challenge is a massive platforming challenge, which you start by jumping down and to your left. As with other challenges, you’ll be sticking to a wall here, the right one this time. If the path upward isn’t clear, look around and especially above you. There’s always another platform just within jumping height. You might need to head around a blind corner in a couple of instances, but not often. When you near the top of the room, look up toward the right wall to see a blue-lit pathway. Jump into the hall, go past the swinging pendulums, and into a large furnace pipe. You’ll need to dodge jets of soulfire, then make a quick exit to your left. The next platforming room is all about dodging soulfire. Thankfully, there’s plenty of open space to maneuver. Use the platforms on the right and left sides of the room to avoid getting burned, then jump into a smaller hallway on the room’s right side. In here, you need to make it to the far end by hopping over hanging sarcophagi. Be careful, though, as each chamber will fill with soulfire from front to back, and there’s no safe place to stand. Once you’ve passed the soulfire rooms, jump up and to your right, then onto a hanging sarcophagi and into another blue-lit room. Head down the hallway until you reach a room with a large Shrieker and a bunch of Acolytes. Clear everything, particularly the Shrieker, and the soulfire barrier will drop. Head through the opening around the left-side statue to reach a huge chamber with a bridge running down its center and two massive Hive statues to your left. Go to the leftmost edge of your starting platform and look down. You now need to drop onto the lowest platform you can see. You can then follow the bridges around to the left and through the Hive statues to the boss encounter. Ir Gohl is the huge, soulfire-infused Knight final boss of the Oblation Exotic mission series, and you fight him across two distinct phases. Phase one is simple. There are three soulfire braziers powering his immunity shield at the edges of his arena. You need to reach each of them and defeat the Wizard mini-boss powering the soulfire jet. When you snuff the last brazier, Ir Gohl’s shield will drop, and you can start DPS. At first, you’ll only be able to do about a sixth of his health in damage. He’ll go immune again when you do. The second phase of the Ir Gohl fight requires worms and crystals. Ir Gohl will go to the center and begin creating a soulfire energy sphere. Each time he completes a sphere, there will be an explosion on the central platform that will kill any Guardian it touches. Ask me how I know. Your job now is twofold: avoid the explosion and go to the one active soulfire brazier for the worms you need to activate the crystals. The explosion also acts as a timer for how long a particular brazier is active. Each time the central sphere explodes, the active brazier will rotate, and the worms with it. To lower Ir Gohl’s shield, you need to pick up one of these worms and throw it at one of the two soulfire crystals that flank the central platform. Activating both will drop the boss’s shield, starting DPS. You then have about 30 seconds of DPS time until Ir Gohl’s shield will go back up. You’ll repeat the process outlined above (throw worms, DPS) until the boss is dead. When the boss does fall, you’ll get the Denier of Futurity Sparrow and, more importantly, the Soulfire Skewer Exotic Catalyst for Cull’s Shadow. You don’t even need the weapon equipped to get it. Simply wait for the final loot chest to open, and your reward will go to your inventory automatically. With that, you’ve finally completed the entirety of the Oblation Exotic mission, have all the Exotic Catalysts, and both the Exotic Ghost and Sparrow. There are still a few secrets to uncover buried deep within this Hive fortress, but those are a story for another time. For much more on Destiny 2, check out our dedicated game page.
