That’s really wild

A video has surfaced on TikTok that features far-right activist and political candidate Jake Land at a racist protest outside the BET Awards in California. The video shows him holding signs such as “Black Parents are Failing,” as well as yelling racist remarks into a microphone.
The video sparked immediate backlash from viewers on the platform, many of whom turned the comments section into an impromptu celebration of Black achievement, with viewers sharing everything from college acceptances to retirement announcements.

The above video was posted by a TikTok user who happened to be in California at the same time as Jake Lang during his protest at the BET Awards. The video in question couldn’t be embedded, but is available to view here.
This second video shows Lang holding up a sign reading “Black Parents are Failures” while speaking into a microphone connected to a megaphone while wearing a bulletproof vest. He can be seen surrounded by people who have their phones out, also recording him. At one point, a Black woman can be seen seemingly laughing at his actions.
Jake Lang was charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, though those charges were later dismissed after President Donald Trump granted clemency to many defendants. More recently, Lang was arrested in Dallas County, Texas, on June 9 on a charge of making terroristic threats.
No one appears to stop Lang, allowing him to continue holding up signs, with another reading, “Black culture = Disgusting.” At the very end, two individuals wearing suits look to try and get Lang’s attention, but the video ends before it becomes clear what happens.
Another video was posted that shows Lang with another protester, whose face is not visible because of a mask. This video features even more people taking photos and recording the situation on their phones.
Comments and Reactions Towards Jake Lang’s BET Protest in California
Many commenters appeared unfazed by the video’s message, choosing instead to celebrate their own accomplishments and those of their families. One person wrote, “Just finished my law degree and became a 3rd generation lawyer by the way.” Similarly, another commenter wrote, “anywayz….my son graduated with his bachelor’s in Psychology!!”
Others mocked the creator, suggesting that his focus on Black Americans came across less as criticism and more as an obsession. In this vein, one comment read, “Jake Lang is obsessed with Black Americans.”
As of now, there is no indication that any arrests or confrontations resulted from the demonstration. In the days since the videos were posted, the online conversation has largely shifted away from Lang himself and toward the accomplishments, milestones, and sense of community that many commenters chose to highlight instead.
