A man has been arrested in Las Vegas after he was found to have stolen more than $60,000 from Little League baseball teams so that he could go to casinos and buy stuff from PlayStation.

When you sign up to play an organized sport, you want some assurances that what you’re paying for is actually what you’re getting. You don’t want to turn up at the field one day and find yourself locked out because someone hasn’t paid up.

Well, in the case of Steve Rodriguez Prado, he was found to have stolen over $60,000 from a baseball league in Las Vegas, Nevada, while acting as the president.

As per a report from Fox 5 Vegas, Rodriguez Prado was taken into custody on July 2, being charged with two counts of forgery and failing to register with law enforcement as a convicted person.

According to the report, league board members raised concerns about missing money with the police, which prompted an investigation into Rodriguez Prado.

Bank statements found that he had spent thousands of dollars on adult entertainment, $800 on one bottle of Don Julio tequila, $1,976 at casinos, $1,454 on ride-shares, and two PlayStation-related charges as well.

The former president of the Little League of Central Nevada told police that the “situation was ‘blown out of proportion,’” and was released on a bond of more than $17,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 30.

Robert Fleming, who runs Little League teams in the Las Vegas Valley, told 8 News Now that he believes Prado should face a different punishment than prison.

“It’s a shame that the penalty can’t be like when they used to stone criminals with rocks and stuff like that. That they just can’t have the kids line up and throw baseballs at him,” he said.

Over in Maryland, a man was arrested for robbery as his getaway car was stolen just minutes after he’d robbed a store.
