No one should tamper with elections

As many already know, the August 4 elections are looming closer, and many have their eyes on them. Most recently, it seems that the DOJ has a particular interest in three cities in Michigan, as it has informed that it will send election monitors to these places. Naturally, this raised a lot of eyebrows, as many believe the cities were deliberately picked, making voters nervous that their ballots might not be safe on election day.
DOJ says it will send election monitors to 3 Michigan cities

The report comes from The Detroit News, which claims the Department of Justice will send election monitors to Detroit, Lansing, and East Lansing. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, many think this might be part of a plan, since the above cities lean Democratic. With Republicans looking for ways to come out on top of the elections, this has raised a few alarms if true, and several citizens are already expressing their concerns.
While election monitors are good in most cases, the fact that the current Department of Justice is sending them makes everyone feel as if the Republicans want to halt the Democrats’ voting capabilities or do something with the overall voting process. Yet, that’s only speculation by some.
In any case, people were unhappy about this alleged decision, and many already think there’s something shady afoot.
The majority of Redditors reacted negatively to this supposed plan, with some already considering taking extra safety measures on election day.
“Gonna be taking my ballot directly to the clerk.“
“Absolutely disgusting display of cowardly authoritarian nonsense. Can’t wait to cast my vote in the primaries.“
Others pointed out that the Department of Justice shouldn’t be so involved in the process and should let voters hand in their ballots without external influence that might make election day even more stressful for some.
“No need, DOJ. We do that ourselves. You know, because states oversee elections? As per the actual Constitution?“
“Now, if they try to do more than monitor, I hope the sheriff or state police do their job.”
Some others have stated that the DOJ is allowed to send monitors, which is pretty normal during elections. However, if the monitors go to the cities many believe they’ll arrive at, it makes the situation feel a bit more planned and targeted, which doesn’t inspire confidence among Michigan voters.
