The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have long been a staple of live-action television and toys, though the brand did make a big jump to comics courtesy of the excellent BOOM! Studios line of comics. Throw in successful forays into video games and tabletop games, and the franchise has pretty much hit every avenue, though there is one blind spot. That would be the realm of animation, and while it has been attempted, it’s never managed to make it to the finish line. Thanks to a new Re-Ignition Stop-Motion series though, fans are one step closer, and you can watch the full first episode of the new series below.
Playmates Toys has launched a new stop-motion animated series titled Power Rangers Re-Ignition Toy Force, which recreates famous scenes from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers using the Auto Morphin action figures. As you can see in the first episode below, the full sound and effects from the actual episode play out as the toys bring the scene to life, and it’s a supremely fun combination that should delight longtime Power Rangers fans and toy fans alike. New episodes will release every Saturday, so expect more of your season 2 favorites to get some shine.
Playmates Toys Has Even More Power Rangers Products On The Way
Playmates Toys got their Power Rangers line started with a heavy emphasis on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 1, and there are already figures of the original team and the original lineup of Dinozords on store shelves. There’s also an electronic Megazord, Power Rangers masks, a Morpher, and a Dragon Dagger in the main lineup, but that is about to expand in a major way over the rest of this year.
Playmates Toys is moving into season 2 of Mighty Morphin with a host of new figures, including Z-Putties, Lord Zedd, and Rocky, Aisha, and Adam versions of the Rangers. On the Zord front, there will also be a lineup of Thunderzords, who will be able to combine into the Thunder Megazord just like the original Zords did.
If you’re a White Ranger fan, you’re in luck, as there will be a White Ranger action figure, a Tigerzord that can combine with the other Zords, and Saba. A mask isn’t likely far behind, and there are already rumors that a Falconzord is in the works for the line as well. Suffice it to say, it’s a good time to be a fan of the White Ranger.
Playmates Toys also recently revealed a collector’s line of figures of the Power Rangers Zeo team. While we don’t know when those will be released or if they will be released all at once, the fact that we are already getting Zeo figures is a welcome sign, and hopefully more teams will follow soon.
