Paralives Career Guide: All Jobs, Perks, and Promotions

Without a steady daily income, your new digital life is going to crash hard.

Paralives Career Guide: All Jobs, Perks, and Promotions

Unless you created a household with vast amounts of generational wealth, you’re going to have to find a way to pay the bills. The career system in Paralives is surprisingly strict, meaning you can’t just apply to become the CEO of the Space Agency on your first day and expect to get hired. The game forces you to build actual resumes, grind through lower ranks, and manage your daily stress levels to avoid getting fired. I spent hours grinding through entry-level gigs to figure out exactly how the promotion math works. Before you rage quit your current position, here’s everything you need to know about climbing the corporate ladder.

Getting Hired and Quitting

Finding a job is the easy part, but managing your schedule so you actually have time to sleep is where the real challenge begins.

Checking the Listings

Job listings update every single in-game day to keep the market fluid. To see what’s currently available, you just need to click your character, open the «Use Phone» menu, and select «Find a job.» You can also browse listings on any computer or simply click on the physical job posters scattered around town. You’re fully allowed to hold multiple jobs at the exact same time, provided their scheduled hours don’t conflict. If things get messy, you can manually adjust your shift schedule at the bottom of the Occupations tab.

Knowing When to Quit

If you hate your current gig, you can walk away instantly. Open the Occupations tab indicated by the little bag icon on the left side of your screen, scroll all the way to the bottom, and hit the «Quit Job» button. Just be warned that the game cuts off your daily income immediately. If your character lives alone, you’ll run into a massive cash flow problem incredibly fast. If you do end up broke and can’t afford rent, you might be forced to move, so keep my Paralives Housing and Lot Management Guide handy just in case.

Mastering the Application System

You can’t just click a high-ranking job and start working. The hiring process relies entirely on a strict numeric system called Application Points.

Earning Your Points

Rank 1 jobs are strictly entry-level and require zero Application Points to secure. For everything else, the required Application Points will always perfectly match the rank of the job. A Rank 12 job requires 12 Application Points.

You earn these points by leveling up relevant skills, gaining previous work experience in that specific field, or possessing a high Charisma stat. Your personality also heavily influences your resume. Having a «Serious» Vibe positively adds to your point total across almost every career track. When you hover over a job listing, the game tells you exactly how many points you currently have and what specific skills you need to bridge the gap.

Hidden Hiring Bonuses

If you find yourself coming up slightly short for a promotion, you can exploit a few hidden mechanics. Applying for a new role internally with your current employer automatically grants you a bonus of three Application Points. If your character happens to have a «Jester» Vibe, the game’ll occasionally bless you with a completely random bonus of five extra points during the application process.

Workplace Performance and Surviving Strikes

Securing the position is only half the battle, because you have to actively protect your job performance meter once you’re on the clock.

Dealing with Strikes

If you show up to your shift completely exhausted, miserable, or missing the core skills required for the task, your daily performance is going to tank. Drop too low, and management slaps you with a strike. If you collect three strikes, you’re instantly fired.

Workplace strikes naturally take 14 days to expire, so if you screw up, you just need to survive a two-week probationary loop without getting caught again. If your performance keeps dipping because you’re constantly fighting off stomach viruses brought home from the office, check out my Paralives Sickness Cure Guide to get cleaned up. You can also burn a «Moon Book» Story Card to wipe away a strike, or just dive into the global Storyteller settings to make the system more forgiving.

Upgrade Points and Perks

Clocking out with a high performance meter gives you an excellent chance of scoring an Upgrade Point. You spend these points to permanently bump your Job Rank for a salary increase, or to buy specialized Job Perks.

You can only have three perks equipped at any given time, so you’ll need to swap them out strategically. Perks are also your primary method for securing Vacation Days. If you completely refuse to deal with the slow corporate grind and want to bypass the application system entirely, read my Paralives Cheats Guide to manually pin your skills to level 20 and instantly drop infinite cash into your account.
