Expanding your digital family eventually forces you to navigate the local housing market or aggressively evict your most annoying roommates.

You usually start your new life on a tiny lot, but you will eventually need more space to breathe. Maybe you just brought a newborn home and need an extra bedroom, which you can read all about in my Paralives Pregnancy Guide. Or maybe you just realized you absolutely cannot stand the character you created and need them off your property immediately. Luckily, Paralives gives you total authority over who lives where. I spent hours testing the property management tools and figuring out exactly how to kick people to the curb. Here is what you need to know about buying up the neighborhood, splitting your family apart, and getting rid of unwanted guests.
The Local Housing Market
Managing your properties requires you to zoom out to the main town view by pressing M on your keyboard.
Buying Multiple Properties
When you spot an empty lot or an uninhabited house you want, click it and select the purchase option. The game instantly tells you how many Paradimes you will have left over after the transaction. You are not forced to sell your current house to buy a new one. You can endlessly buy up properties to serve as vacation homes or strategic basecamps.
Just keep in mind that your characters always treat the very first lot you bought as their primary residence. If you click your active home from the map, a menu lets you sell all the walls and items, move the lot entirely, or save the design to your library.
Stealing Occupied Homes
If you find yourself incredibly jealous of a beautiful house owned by an NPC, you can easily steal it. Swap your active control to the neighbor’s household, click their lot, and hit the sell button. Switch your control right back to your main family and buy the newly vacant property. The game does not care that you just made a random family completely homeless.
Splitting Up Your Family
When your kids grow up or you just want a change of scenery, you need to physically separate your family members into different houses.
The Separation Process
Head into the town view and click on your current home. Look for the blue option labeled «Split Household.» This brings up a menu listing everyone currently living under your roof alongside your total bank balance. You simply drag the character you want to remove over to the empty box on the right. You can assign them a specific cut of your Paradimes to help them get started. Once you confirm the split, you immediately take control of that newly separated group. Just make sure you actually purchase a second lot for them, or they won’t have a place to live.
Dealing With Terrible Roommates
Sometimes you make a massive mistake and move in with a character who refuses to clean up or constantly brings home the Digestive System Virus. If you are tired of cooking soup to heal them using my Paralives Sickness Cure Guide, you need to get rid of them.
| Removal Method | Expected Consequence |
|---|---|
| Hostile Split | The character leaves the lot with zero money but remains wandering around the town. |
| Deprivation | The character meets their end after a prolonged period without sleep and food. |
| Fire Trap | The character gets caught in a cooking accident and is permanently removed from the household. |
The Peaceful Eviction
You can’t just hit a delete button to wipe a character from your town without opening the cheat console. If you want a natural fix, the best method is a hostile split. I once had a bug where a completely naked default character randomly spawned inside my house. To fix it, I used the Split Household tool, tossed them into the empty box, and gave them exactly zero Paradimes. They get booted from the property, and you rarely have to deal with them again.
The Permanent Solution
If you want to go the traditional life simulation route and completely remove someone from the game world, you have to get creative. You can deprive them of sleep and hunger until they expire. If you lack patience, force the unwanted character to start cooking in a room packed with wooden furniture. Trap them in the room and wait for the inevitable kitchen fire. Do not let them extinguish the flames, and the problem resolves itself.
