Pokimane says she nearly “lost” her eye due to a rare accident that a medical expert had “never” seen before.
Twitch star Imane ‘Pokimane‘ Anys was gearing up for her big birthday trip to Paris when her right eye began itching during a dinner the night before her flight.
Convinced it was just a one-off incident, Pokimane went to bed, hoping it would resolve itself by morning… but instead, it only got worse.
“I’ve never had pink eye, and I was so scared if it’s something like that, you know what I mean?” she told her chat during a June 2 broadcast.
Pokimane’s eye issue stuns emergency optometrist
The sensation graduated from itching to intense pain, prompting the streamer to run to an emergency optometrist, hoping she would still make it to her flight on time.
“My eye is red as hell. I feel like there’s something in there, but I can’t feel anything,” she explained.
After examining her eye, the optometrist told Pokimane that one of her eyelashes had wedged itself inside a tear duct in her upper eyelid, causing the intense itching and pain.
What’s more, the optometrist supposedly told Pokimane that she had never seen this particular condition in her nine-year career as a medical professional, causing the streamer to laugh at how ridiculous the situation was.
Luckily, the eyelash was removed and Pokimane was able to hop on her flight to France with no other issues… but unfortunately, the rest of her trip in the country was also fraught with problems.
Pokimane says that she and a group of friends had booked a castle to stay in during their trip, but several of the advertised rooms were blocked off due to messes from previous tenants.

On top of that, the Wi-Fi was not functioning and the showers were also overflowing, with both the owner and the concierge blaming each other for the issues.
When Poki and her crew decided to leave, she was asked to sign an NDA before getting a measly 10% refund. Pokimane stood her ground, eventually getting a 25% refund without having to sign such a document, allowing her to speak about the situation freely online.
Despite all the kerfuffles, Pokimane ended up having a fulfilling 30th birthday bash, and was even able to show off her royal accommodations in a humorous Instagram reel to the tune of 55,000 likes.
