Dating app Tinder has seen an increase in activity from domestic and international users thanks to the influx of fans arriving for the World Cup.
The love affair between the US and the visiting nations is no secret. Boston and Glasgow have agreed to become twin cities thanks to the influx of Scottish fans, the Norwegians have taken over Times Square, and most nations are falling for American fast food.
However, it seems that that the mixing of cultures has been great for the singletons of Tinder. The app is being used much more thanks to the tournament and there are statistics to back it up.
Tinder users are making more matches during the tournament
According to The Independent, when compared with the numbers for June of 2025, the US has seen an increase of over 15% in total users, with a 25% increase in swiping activity and, most notably, a 60% increase in matches. Similar trends have been noted in co-host nations Mexico and Canada.
When looking at the games themselves, and after accounting for ordinary summer travel, the app saw an average increase of 47% in host cities.
Some of the biggest spikes in activity included an 80% increase in Monterrey for Sweden vs. Tunisia; 74% in Guadalajara for South Korea vs. Czechia; and 47% in Boston for Iraq vs. Norway.
The data suggests that domestic users are a driving force behind the spike, increasing by 22% when compared to June 2025.
Additionally, the upward trend of the Passport Mode shows countries like Great Britain, Brazil, and Nigeria are scouting the US for potential matches.
