A Ghanaian spiritualist known for hexing soccer players claims Harry Kane was his latest victim, but says that he has lifted the curse following the game.
Nana Kwaku Bonsam is a Ghanaian witch doctor and fetish priest. Bonsam, whose name translates to “Devil”, gained notoriety when he allegedly hexed Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ahead of Ghana’s match against England, Bonsam took to Instagram and claimed he had put a hex on striker Harry Kane, who had just scored twice in England’s 4-2 win over Croatia.
Kane failed to score during the game
It was 0-0 in the 86th minute of the game, when a close range change fell Kane’s way. However, the striker, fresh off a record-breaking season with Bayern Munich, missed the goal entirely.
“I was waiting for an opportunity like that to fall my way,” Kane said after the game. “It did and I just couldn’t quite get over the ball. But I’ve been a striker long enough to know they don’t always go in.”
The match finished goalless, meaning both teams took away a point in the group stage. Afterward, Bonsam posted on Instagram again, vowing to release Kane from the curse so that he can score in his next game.

“Now I am going to release Harry Kane so that, his next match, he can score,” said Bonsam. “Harry, I will come and visit you. Don’t be offended. We are friends.”
