What did they do?

A woman in Minnesota recently shared a TikTok video, claiming she witnessed two boys being kept inside a local gas station against their will by a store employee. She said she witnessed the incident at the Marathon gas station on Broadway Ave in Minneapolis after she stopped to refuel. The video has since drawn widespread attention online, with many netizens criticizing the employee’s alleged actions and questioning why police reportedly never responded to the scene.

2 FBA children were locked inside a #marathongasstation at 1120 W Broadway Ave Minneapolis, MN 55411 in N. Minneapolis for over 30 mins. After he saw me and another FBA sister weren’t leaving until he let them out, he finally let them go. These businesses come into our community and exploit us by price gouging, they won’t hire us, they don’t even clean up to make it a pleasant experience. But they won’t leave because it’s a gold mine. #fba #northminneapolis #falseimprisonment

According to the woman, who goes by @jypsyhussle on TikTok, the two boys had allegedly been locked inside the business for about half an hour. She said she immediately contacted police after observing the situation from outside the store, but officers never arrived.
Before she could contact the police a second time, the boys were eventually allowed to leave.
The woman still went into the store and confronted the employee who appeared to be speaking on the phone. During their recorded exchange, she accused the worker of acting outside his authority by allegedly preventing the boys from leaving.
“You know that’s illegal. You cannot lock people inside the store. That’s not your job,” she said in the video. She argued that if the boys had done something wrong, the employee should have reported it to police.
The woman also warned that the incident could generate backlash from the community. “Do not lock kids in this store. Unless you want a protest. Do you want people showing up here and shutting your business down? Because that’s what’s going to happen. You won’t have no business. We will flood this parking lot.”
As she left the store, she knocked over a trash can before walking away.
Netizens’ Reaction to the Minnesota Woman’s Video
In the comments section under the TikTok post, many viewers sided with the woman and praised her for stepping in. “This is real community activism,” one person wrote. Another commented, “You were at the right place at the right time! Thank you 🙏🏾.”
A third netizen added, “That’s right sister! Stand up for those kids. Their parents probably had no clue either.” A fourth argued, “That’s literally kidnapping!!! They need to sue him!”
Several people also questioned the reported lack of police response. “The cops should have responded with more urgency,” one comment read. Another chimed in, “Hold the police accountable to follow up!!!”
Not everyone fully agreed with the criticism directed at the store employee, however. Some viewers said they wanted more information about why the boys were allegedly being held in the first place. “Well what did they do????” one commenter asked. Someone else said, “But not a word on what they did wrong!!!!”
A third person expressed a mixed view of the situation, writing, “He shouldn’t have locked them in there but why did he do it .. The youngsters can be very disrespectful.”
It remains unclear what led to the boys being kept inside the store or whether they had been accused of any wrongdoing before the incident. The employee’s explanation was not included in the video.
