A disagreement over who should be served first at a restaurant in Redondo Beach, California, quickly escalated into a heated public confrontation after a group of Black women asked a waiter if they could receive their check before another customer placed his order. The clip has since begun circulating on social media, with viewers weighing in on the tense exchange.
The video opens in the outdoor seating area of a restaurant, where a group of Black women can be seen filming a man sitting alone at a nearby table. One of the women tells him, “No, you’re weird and rude. You’re not entitled.” He quickly fires back, “Neither are you. You’re the one acting [expletive] entitled,” before directing further insults at the group, including calling one of the women a “dumb, fat [expletive].” Rather than shouting back, the women can be heard laughing as the confrontation continues.
Still recording on his phone, the man continues, “You think you’re above everybody? Say something. If you think you’re gonna catch me saying something racist, I’m not. You’re the one being an ignorant [expletive].” Moments later, another diner steps in to defend the women, although much of the exchange is difficult to make out over the commotion. The group can then be heard thanking the woman for coming to their defense.
The man then tells the woman who stepped in to mind her own business, insisting that the group had been rude to him. As the confrontation continues, the women ask a server to bring over a manager for assistance. Moments later, the man can be heard saying, “Go back to where you’re from. You’re not even from around here,” before claiming he could tell by their accents. The women call the remark ignorant, while the man responds by saying he is from the South Bay area.
The next exchange sheds more light on what the man says sparked the confrontation. He claims, “I’m minding my own [expletive] business. And she comes over here telling me to not let the waiter serve me, ’cause they’re more important, they need to get their check before I order, so God forbid I stand up for myself. God forbid I don’t let the Black woman do whatever the [expletive] she wants. They wanna make it about race, not me.” The women immediately dispute his version of events, insisting he was the first person to bring race into the conversation and that they had never mentioned it beforehand.
The confrontation has since sparked a wave of reactions online, with many viewers weighing in on the man’s behavior, the women’s response, and how the situation unfolded.

Many Reddit users felt the man’s reaction was completely out of proportion to the situation, with several criticizing the way he handled the confrontation. One person wrote, “These dudes reek of weakness,” while another commented, “Gosh I wonder why this dude is eating at a restaurant alone??”
Others focused on the moment another diner stepped in to defend the women after the argument escalated. One commenter quipped, “‘Mind your own business’ — you’re making it everyone’s business by being a douche,” while another added, “Damn lunch came with a side of xenophobia, misogyny and racism today?”
