TikTok creator John West has died, according to a statement shared by his sister on social media. News of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow creators who followed his content online.
The announcement was made by West’s sister, who wrote that he had “recently passed away from natural causes” and thanked those who had reached out to offer support.
“Until we meet again Mr. West,” she wrote alongside a memorial photo of her brother.
West built a following on TikTok through videos documenting his daily life and interactions with family members. Following news of his death, social media users flooded the comments section with messages of support and condolences.
Singer SZA responded to the post, writing: “Nooooo I’m so sorry !!” alongside crying and broken heart emojis.
Chance The Rapper added: “This affected me more than I expected. Thank you for the kindness you showed him.”
Another singer, Anycia, also shared her condolences, commenting: “nooooooo and I just got here. my condolences, God bless u & ur family.”

Family shares more details about John West’s health
In a second post, West’s sister shared a tribute video and reflected on his life, writing: “Dear Brother, Thank you for the last 2½ years of making my life brighter, funnier, and better. You will be missed every day.”
She added: “I just know you’re in God’s arms now, keeping him busy and asking a million and one questions with your curiosity.”
After questions emerged online about what was meant by “natural causes,” West’s sister later provided additional context regarding his health.

She explained that while many people knew West as a man with autism, he had also dealt with several serious medical issues over the years.
According to her statement, West had a history of severe, untreated dental infections, ongoing kidney problems, and episodes of blood in his urine. She said his health had improved significantly over the last two years, but he had faced a number of long-term health challenges.
“I chose to share the positive parts of his life and journey because not every hardship or medical issue needed to be made public,” she wrote. “There was much more to his story than what people saw online.”
