TikTok: Serena Neel
TikToker Serena Neel turned a truckload of damaged pickles into an unusual summer attraction after filling a swimming pool with 50,000 pickles and inviting her neighborhood over for a pool party.
Neel documented the project in a viral TikTok video, showing the lengthy process of unloading pallets of pickles, removing them from their jars, rinsing them off, and transporting them to a backyard pool using wheelbarrows.
According to Neel, the pickles had been damaged and could no longer be sold or eaten, prompting her to find another use for them before they were eventually recycled.
“We’re gonna fill a pool and then recycle them,” she explained during the video.
The project required multiple people to help open jars and process the pickles, with Neel revealing that there were around 10 pallets’ worth to work through. Throughout the day, the growing mountain of pickles gradually transformed the pool into what she dubbed a “pickle pool.”

As the pool filled, Neel and her helpers continued unloading wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of pickles while stacks of empty jars piled up nearby.
“We have to keep the cover on it, or else they’ll get cooked and turn white,” she said while showing off the nearly completed pool.
Once all 50,000 pickles had been added, Neel finally climbed into the pool herself, joking that she felt “like an alligator” while swimming among the floating pickles.
The event quickly turned into a neighborhood gathering, with inflatable pool toys, pizza, and local residents joining in the unusual celebration.
“The whole neighborhood came,” Neel said near the end of the video.

The clip has racked up millions of views on TikTok as viewers reacted to the unusual use of thousands of discarded pickles and Neel’s commitment to seeing the project through from start to finish.
The pickle pool is just the latest large-scale project from Neel to go viral online.
Earlier in June, she transformed her home into a fully stocked free 7-Eleven complete with hot dogs, slushies, snacks, and drinks, a stunt that eventually caught the attention of 7-Eleven itself, with the company’s social media team jokingly commenting that it was “still waiting” for an invitation.
