Christopher Nolan fans are paying a premium to secure seats for The Odyssey, with IMAX 70mm tickets already appearing on eBay for several times their original price just days after going on sale.
Tickets for The Odyssey officially went on sale on June 4, more than a month ahead of the film’s July 17, 2026 release. Demand was immediate, with moviegoers reporting long virtual queues and technical issues as they rushed to secure seats for Nolan’s latest epic.
The rush comes as The Odyssey prepares to make history as the first feature-length movie filmed entirely using IMAX film cameras. With only a limited number of theaters nationwide capable of screening IMAX 70mm prints, many of the most sought-after showtimes sold out within hours.
The Odyssey tickets sold for up to $500 on eBay
Now, some of those hard-to-get tickets are appearing on resale marketplaces at significantly marked-up prices.
As of June 5, eBay listings showed multiple pairs of IMAX 70mm tickets being offered for hundreds of dollars. One listing for two tickets to an AMC Lincoln Square screening in New York City was marked as sold for $500, while another pair for the same theater sold for $399.

Additional listings showed tickets priced at $449.95 for an opening weekend screening at AMC Lincoln Square, while other IMAX 70mm showings in locations including Dallas and Fort Lauderdale were listed between $120 and $399.
Some listings are as high as $10,000 for 12 tickets, but it’s important to note that nobody has purchased the auction.
The resale listings reflect the intense demand surrounding Nolan’s latest project, particularly for screenings at theaters capable of showing the film in its intended IMAX 70mm format.

The ticket frenzy arrives just days after AMC Theatres reported its highest May attendance since 2019. On June 1, the theater chain announced that 25.5 million guests attended movies at AMC locations during May, driven in part by strong performances from hit horror releases including Backrooms and Obsession.
