Creating new series based in the world of Family Guy is nothing new for the long-running animated series, with The Cleveland Show being a prime example of Seth MacFarlane stretching his wings. Unsurprisingly, the Fox Animation powerhouse is returning to this well by focusing on, arguably, the most popular character of Quahog fame: Stewie Griffin. Set to arrive next year, Stewie will shine a light on the megalomaniac baby, and the spin-off has apparently found a good number of its cast. Needless to say, a few voice actors are joining the series that you might be familiar with.
In a new report from the outlet Deadline, Saturday Night Live Veterans Kenan Thompson and Vanessa Bayer are set to join the Stewie series, along with The Rookie’s Melissa O’Neil. Thompson is set to play Royal, one of Stewie’s new friends he makes at the preschool, while Bayer will take on the part of Stewie’s teacher, Morgan. Veterans of Family Guy itself, Mark Henry, Aaron Lee, and Jessica Lowe have also been added to the cast. For those who might not know the trio from name alone, Henry plays the part of Cleveland Brown in the main series, while taking on the part of BJ in Stewie, a “gossipy” classmate. Aaron Lee will take on the role of “Skunk,” the class turtle. Finally, Jessica Lowe will play the part of Stewie’s school rival, Caroline. Needless to say, it’s an impressive cast for the upcoming spin-off.
What We Know About The Stewie Spin-Off
As mentioned earlier, Stewie will arrive on Fox beginning in 2027, but so confident is the network in this spin-off that it has already been confirmed for two seasons. While a third season isn’t confirmed, the youngest Griffin might be a spin-off that goes the distance, considering just how popular Stewie remains these days. Rather than seeing Stewie interacting with his fellow family members in the Griffin family, the spin-off is planning to take a different approach to the mad genius this time around, as Seth MacFarlane, of course, returns to the role.
While all the story details have yet to be revealed, and no trailer has arrived for Stewie as of the writing of this article, the plot will revolve around the titular baby being transferred to a new preschool. Now trapped within a far less hospitable school, Stewie will be dragging his teacher and classmates through adventures relying on the technology that has long allowed him to travel through space and time. Luckily, Stewie will still be a big part of Family Guy while the side story airs. A specific release date has yet to be revealed for the Quahog spin-off.
