Taco Bell has removed a number of key ingredients from popular menu items as a parasite is spreading across the United States and causing ‘explosive diarrhea’ for people.
Back on July 1, it was reported that a parasite causing ‘explosive diarrhea’ had started spreading across the United States. At that point, it had popped up in 17 different states, including New York, Florida, and Georgia, with the CDC issuing a warning to people.
“Local, state and federal (CDC, FDA) public health authorities are investigating several clusters of cases in more than one state. Investigations to identify potential sources are ongoing,” they announced.
The parasite has affected a few different places, with Taco Bell becoming the latest to cut a number of ingredients as a result.

As per WWJ, Taco Bell locations in Detroit announced that they were not using Lettuce, Cilantro Onion, Pico de Gallo, and Guacamole “due to a nationwide recall” on those items.
“We apologize for the inconvenience. Any items ordered that normally come with these items WILL NOT contain them,” one of the signs said.
This means that popular menu items like the Crunchwrap Supreme will come without some fan-favorite additions. At least for a short while, anyway.

Symptoms of the parasite include watery diarrhea, as well as loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramping, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue, with less common symptoms including vomiting, body aches, headaches, low-grade fever, and other flu-like illnesses.
Not getting your hands on your favorite items can be annoying, and it is doubly annoying when you request a change that doesn’t happen.
