A brave cat is going viral for standing up to a bear and confronting the wild animal, forcing it to retreat to the forest.
They say dogs are man’s best friend, but you shouldn’t count cats out, either. Sometimes, they can be quite the heroes, when they’re not sleeping or destroying PCs, that is.
The latest example, as per CTV, comes from the Interior community of Quesnel in British Columbia, Canada where a bear was spotted in a backyard.
Instead of running away like some cats would, however, this feline stood his ground and charged, showing a level of bravery that would make hockey players and UFC fighters blush.
Brave cat charges at bear in viral video
Footage of the incident was posted to the TikTok account ‘mydogslifebuddy’ where the users documents life with pets consisting of dogs, cats, and bears (oh my).
The video showed the black bear exploring the backyard before the cat came out of nowhere and confronted the bear, chasing it away.
The much larger bear, seemingly afraid of the adorable black and white house cat, ended up jumping the fence and retreating back to the forest.
“Black bear sneaks into back yard gets rekked by cat,” the user captioned the clip, which has been growing increasingly viral since being posted on June 17.
According to ‘mydogslifebuddy,’ the same bear was caught eating apples in their tree two years prior, but didn’t have any cats around at the time.

Dog walks herself to day care to play with “boyfriend” after escaping owner’s house
This isn’t the first time a cat’s heroic actions have gone viral this year. In March, a heroic kitten went viral after it sacrificed itself to save its owner from a house fire.
A month later, another feline saved its owner after their PC started burning from a NVIDIA RTX 4090 meltdown.
Then, in May, a cat from Maine saved her owners by alerting them to a dangerous carbon monoxide leak inside their home.
