A Grand Theft Auto 6 fan has pulled out all the stops to predict when the third trailer is dropping, using the position of the planets to figure out the most likely date.
It’s been a year since GTA 6 Trailer 2 was released, giving us our first in-depth look at the world and story of Rockstar’s long-awaited follow-up to GTA 5. But with the game finally set to release in November, fans have been desperate to see more.
We know that marketing is set to ramp up soon, but one player has used an unconventional method to predict exactly when trailer 3 could be shown.
GTA 6 fan predicts new trailer in May after studying solar system
Reddit user ‘JalapenoPoppers24’ shared a post revealing that they spent the last three months “charting the planetary positions for every Rockstar trailer drop since 2007.” This includes GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption, GTA 5, and RDR2.
The OP then “ran the geocentric ecliptic longitudes for all 9 classical bodies at each drop.” In English, this means that they analyzed the position of other planets in the solar system compared to Earth when Rockstar made previous announcements.
“Pluto was in Sagittarius for 24 of the 26 drops. Neptune has been in Pisces for 19 of them. The Sun was in Libra, Scorpio, or Taurus 58% of the time when random would give you 25%,” they continue. “The Mercury-Sun conjunction (within 8°) showed up on 8 of 26 drops which is a third of the sample for a configuration that occurs roughly 11% of the time in any given year.”
I spent three months charting the planetary positions for every Rockstar trailer drop since 2007. Trailer 3 is dropping Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 11AM EDT. I’ll explain.

This insane level of work led them to assign a score to every date between May and the end of August based on past planetary position, and the user thinks they’ve figured out exactly when the trailer will drop.

“The single highest-scoring date in the entire 123-day window is Thursday, May 14, 2026, 12 out of 16 points,” they decided. “It’s also exactly one week and one day after the GTA 6 Trailer 2 anniversary, AND it falls on the same calendar day (the 14th) as GTA V Trailer 2 which Rockstar pushed from Nov 2 to Nov 14 in 2012. The 14 isn’t a coincidence.”
So, you might want to mark Thursday, May 14, 2026, in your calendar, as that’s when the planets are telling us GTA 6 trailer 3 is coming. If the stars do all align, JalepenoPoppers24 wants to “be remembered” for this scary amount of research.
If you think this is first time players have looked to the sky for news about GTA 6, you’d be wrong. Before the first trailer was released, the community convinced itself that the moon was going to decide when they got their first look.
