PlayStation users are about to see some of their favorite movies being removed from their accounts following the end of a licensing deal.
Sure, a lot of fans are eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6 and various other games that are expertly avoiding that November release date, but PlayStation isn’t just about games; it’s also a great place to watch your favorite films.
However, if you’ve bought a digital movie on the console, then it could be removed from your account very soon after PlayStation ended a licensing deal with Studio Canal, meaning over 500 movies are about to disappear.
PlayStation set to remove over 500 movies from accounts
As explained by PlayStation through a notification on the console and on their website, “From September 1, 2026, due to our content licensing agreements, you will no longer be able to access your previously purchased content from Studio Canal, and it will be removed from your video library.”

Sony
This means over 500 different movies will be removed from fans’ video libraries, including the following:
- Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut
- Bridget Jones’ Diary
- Evil Dead 1 & 2
- Highlander
- Hot Fuzz
- Legend (2015)
- Pan’s Labyrinth
- Rambo 3
- Moonlight
- Robocop (2014)
- Terminator 2: Judgement Day
You can check out the full list of films being removed from your PlayStation here.
As mentioned in the statement, all Studio Canal films will be removed from PlayStations, regardless of whether you’ve previously purchased them or not, so if you’ve bought any of the above, you may want to look into buying them elsewhere, or checking out whether they’re on a streaming service.
Regardless, all the above films will be removed from your account on September 1, 2026, just in time for a last movie night.
