The Pokemon Company has officially revealed a new set for the Trading Card Game that celebrates the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration is the first set for the game scheduled to release worldwide on the same date, September 16, 2026. Likewise, the entire set of cards will be printed in foil and mark the debut of a brand-new rarity, Futuristic Rare.
Two of these cards, one each for Gen 1 Legendaries Mew and Mewtwo, were revealed in the announcement trailer.
30th anniversary going big on Pikachu cards
As a special milestone set, 30th Anniversary unsurprisingly goes big on cards dedicated to Pikachu, with TPCi confirming that 30 different versions of the franchise’s mascot will appear in packs.
Other cards so far shown include several reprints, including one for the iconic Base Set Charizard, and others from various periods in the TCG’s history, including the Sun & Moon era’s Tag Team mechanic.
As with all modern sets, illustrated rares are also present, with Lapras, Hisuian Zorua, Drifloon, and Lycanroc so far showcased.
Consistent fan favourites, including Eeveelutions Umbreon and Espeon, are present, too. Mimicking the 25th anniversary set, each card comes stamped with a special logo celebrating the big three-zero anniversary.
As of writing, the total number of cards included in the 30th Anniversary set is unknown. Likewise, TPCi has yet to confirm when pre-orders will be available.
Considering the massive demand for Pokemon cards and the ongoing issue with scalpers, though, it’s likely getting your hands on any 30th Anniversary packs at retail price will be next to impossible. That is, of course, unless TPC is able to ramp up production even more than it already has.
