Is shiny Scizor in Pokémon Go?
Yes, shiny Scizor is in Pokémon Go! Shiny Scyther and Scizor were released in April 2019 as part of the annual Bug Out event.
As you can see below, shiny Scyther family is pretty naff. Shiny Scyther is very subtle, with just a pink collar and legs really giving anything away. Shiny Scizor and shiny Mega Scizor swap their reds and blacks for greens and… greens. They don’t look anywhere near as cool.
You’ll also notice another Pokémon below — Kleavor, an alternate evolution for Scyther. That also looks worse as a shiny, so we guess it’s good to know that that runs in the family!
Everything we know about Scizor
Scizor is one of two branching evolutions from Gen 1’s Scyther — a praying mantis with scythes for hands. Scyther evolves into Scizor when traded while holding the item Metal Coat in the main series games, or when exposed to Black Augrite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The theme here is simply bugs with different cutting implements for hands (scythes, scissors and axes).
Scizor is also a parallel to Steelix in that both are Gen 2 evolutions of Gen 1 Pokémon that require a Metal Coat to evolve and gain Steel typing. Both also gained Mega Evolution in Gen 4.

- Mega Scizor: ‘It’s better at beating things than grasping them. When it battles for a long time, the weight of its pincers becomes too much to bear. It stores the excess energy from Mega Evolution, so after a long time passes, its body starts to melt.’
- Scizor: ‘Parts of its body turned to stone when it evolved thanks to an extremely rare ore found in volcanic areas. This Pokémon is a rough, crude, and violent sort. It swings around its large, heavy stone axes to finish off its prey.’
