A Twitch streamer used his sumo wrestling skills to take down an angry Apex Legends player who allegedly pulled out a knife during a gaming event in New York City.

Kofi ‘Koustics’ Miller, a fighting game player, commentator, streamer, and sumo wrestler, was live on Twitch at OS NYC on June 18 when the wild incident unfolded.

Miller was at the gaming lounge when an Apex Legends player became enraged during a match and pulled out a knife during a confrontation with an employee at the bar.

The situation quickly escalated, prompting Koustics to step in.

Footage from the stream showed the streamer getting up to deal with the knife-wielding man before returning with blood on his clothes.

“We get him to walk outside. But he’s tweaking. He’s screaming. He tries to come back in with the knife, so I bodyslam him and hold him until the police come,” Miller explained, adding that the individual landed on his own knife during the commotion.

“I’m mad because this was my rank-up game, too,” he joked afterward. “This dude cost me 14 LP.”

Speaking with IGN, Koustics said the Apex player became upset during a match and advised that anyone that angry at a game should take a break and try something less stressful.

Koustics has since been widely praised for keeping calm and using his wrestling background to restrain the player without letting the incident spiral further.

It is not currently clear whether the Apex Legends player was arrested or if any charges were filed over the incident.
