Valve’s Steam Deck OLED models are finally back in stock after months of shortages, but buyers are now facing much steeper prices than before.
Earlier this year, Valve warned customers that Steam Deck stock could become “intermittently” unavailable due to supply issues affecting memory and storage components used in the handheld PCs.
The company has increased the cost of multiple Steam Deck OLED handhelds, with some models now priced more than $200 above their previous MSRP. The 512GB Steam Deck OLED now costs $789, up from $549, while the 1TB OLED model has jumped from $649 to $949.
Refurbished units also saw price hikes, with the 512GB OLED now listed at $629 and the 1TB version costing $759.
Valve already blamed memory shortages for Steam hardware problems
The Steam Deck OLED price increase comes after months of warnings from Valve about rising hardware costs tied to global RAM and storage shortages.
Earlier this year, Valve admitted it was “bummed” about delays affecting its upcoming Steam Machine console, explaining that memory supply issues had forced the company to revisit both launch timing and pricing across its hardware lineup. The shortages were also blamed for limited Steam Deck OLED availability in multiple regions.

Valve has repeatedly said the ongoing component crisis has created challenges for keeping hardware affordable, particularly as AI-related demand continues driving up the cost of memory and storage parts.
The company previously raised Steam Deck OLED prices in regions including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan before the latest US increases appeared.
Earlier this year, the company finally released the long-awaited new Steam Controller, with reservations opening shortly after the announcement as Valve pushed further into its growing gaming hardware ecosystem.
