Comedian and actor Laura Clery revealed that she was nearly crushed to death after a 600-pound refrigerator fell on top of her while she was home alone with her two children.
Clery shared details of the incident in an Instagram post on May 21, describing it as the “most terrifying night of my life as a single mom.” The social media star explained that the fridge “slammed into me and pinned me against the counter” after it shifted out of place in her kitchen.
In video clips shared online, Clery could be seen being taken away on a stretcher before later filming herself inside an ambulance while asking firefighters to confirm what had happened.

Clery later expanded on the incident in a post on her Patreon page, where, according to USA Today, she explained that her “massive French door fridge” was supposed to be mounted on the wall.
According to Clery, the appliance began shifting after her son climbed on it. When she attempted to push it back into place, the fridge allegedly toppled forward and pinned her against her kitchen island.
“Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way,” she wrote. “It just fell. The full weight of it slammed me backward into the kitchen island, pinning my lower back and hips. I couldn’t move.”
Clery said she tried to push the fridge off herself, but “it didn’t even slightly budge,” comparing it to “pushing against a building.”

She also recalled struggling to breathe while trapped underneath the appliance and said she feared she could die before managing to pull her phone from her pocket and call 911.

According to Clery, it ultimately took three firefighters to lift the refrigerator off her. When she arrived at the hospital, Clery said doctors were surprised she had not suffered any broken bones despite the severity of the accident.
“I’m home now. I’m bruised, I’m sore, it hurts to walk, and I feel like I got hit by a truck that also lives in my kitchen,” she wrote. “But I’m okay. My kids are okay.”
Clery later thanked the firefighters who responded to the emergency, calling them “absolute heroes” in a follow-up Instagram post.
Clery also claimed the fridge had “NOT properly mounted” into the wall and said she was considering legal action against the contractors involved in the installation.
