Ever thought your PC, Kindle, or phone is too small to really get into your favorite manga? Well, now you can enjoy it from your TV screen thanks to this wild new game that turns your PS5 into a manga reader.
Sometimes a manga is so good that you just have to see every detail of each character, fight, or iconic scene. And, there’s no better way to do that than using your TV screen for the biggest version of the book possible (cinema screens aside, which would be incredible).
That’s what Shujinkou Manga Reader aims to change by allowing you to turn your PS5 into a manga reader for one of JRPG’s biggest stories.
Shujinkou Manga Reader brings epic JRPG to life on PS5
Inspired by the popular JRPG Shujinkou, the Shujinkou Manga Reader currently only lets you read a single one-shot manga set in the same world as the game. Think of it like an app used to promote the mainline adventure rather than one where you’ll be able to read thousands of your favorite stories on your PS5.
However, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to in the future. According to the game’s description, there “will be more manga stories and chapters planned throughout the year” with “major educational-oriented features are also being planned for the future,” so we might even see it in schools eventually (we can dream).
The current manga tells the story of “Shu, Jin, Kou, Shirouto, and Toushirou [as they] investigate the ruined temple Moku Jinja after reports of gruesome murders, taking them through labyrinth exploration, fierce combat, Kanakae Orbs, and more. The second half of the One Shot showcases the daily lives, humor, friendships, and wider cast of Shujinkou through a fun beach party filled with sushi, swimsuits, and more.”

So, it’s expected we’ll see more battles, character development, and exploration for the crew in the future, with a chance of “more manga stories” coming to the app soon, letting you turn your PS5 into a manga reader for multiple different adventures.
