An eagle-eyed GTA Online player appears to have discovered a possible GTA 6 feature hiding in plain sight that could point to a realistic change to the Wanted system.
GTA’s Wanted system is the most recognizable features in all of gaming. Essentially, if players commit crimes, they gain “stars” that correspond to their Wanted level. The more stars one has, the bigger the police response.
Up until GTA 5, players had to outrun the police to escape their Wanted status, but V took things further by letting players hide and wait in order for their Wanted level to go down.
There have been plenty of rumors about how GTA 6 will make its version even more realistic and intense, and it seems like we now know how, based on an unsuspecting leak hiding in GTA Online.

GTA 6 fans think they found a Wanted system leak in GTA Online
As noted by Redditor ‘Ok-Oil-8903,’ when customizing their Coquette D10, they noticed a new text box that doesn’t have anything to do with GTA Online.
Under the custom Sunstrips, the text box read, “The Vehicle Identification Number is a unique code used to identify individual vehicles. This has already been removed from the vehicle.”
This is quite interesting because VINs aren’t a feature in GTA Online, so many have suspected this was left over from GTA 6 testing.

The Redditor further added, “In the 2022 leaks, I remember seeing something about a suspect profiling system where NPCs would report to the cops information about Jason and Lucia’s appearance, stuff like their clothes or their hairstyles, as well as vehicle information like color and license plates.”
In one of the most iconic leaked footage clips, main characters Jason and Lucia rob a diner called Hank’s Waffle House. When analyzed, this video has a ton of info that showcases a bunch of new features in GTA 6.

As the player goes around stealing money from the register and intimidating customers, there is a new “witness” mechanic that kicks in. Under the Wanted level, the words “Full Description” are shown, indicating the witnesses know exactly what you look like.
A major breakdown of the 2022 leaks further broke this down: “Once Lucia enters the police vehicle, you can see written: ‘No Vehicle Description,’ which quickly changes to: ‘Full Vehicle Description,’ which suggests that the police have a full description of your vehicle… The text prompt on the top-left side says: Any vehicle you are seen entering will be known by the Law.”

More GTA 6 fans shared their thoughts.
“Presumably, stolen cars are ‘hot’ until you do this. It reminds me of Mafia 2 where you have to change the number plate if the car is wanted by police, otherwise they recognize you in traffic and want to arrest you,” one player suggested.
“It definitely got ported back by mistake or something since there is nothing related to VIN numbers in previous titles,” another chimed in.
Others noted that this could also have been a cut GTA 5 mechanic, as the text string has technically been hiding in the game’s files since launch.
So far, nothing has been confirmed, so take this “leak” with a grain of salt, but if this ends up tying back to GTA 6, it could completely change how players steal cars in Grand Theft Auto.
Meanwhile, marketing for GTA 6 is slated to begin in the summer, so we may be waiting a few more weeks to find out if this feature is real and what else Rockstar has cooking up.
Insiders have notably claimed that GTA 6 will be so advanced that no other studio will match it for 15-20 years, and some of the confirmed GTA 6 gameplay info sounds incredibly impressive, as well.
