Xbox came straight out of the gate swinging at its 2026 Games Showcase. In addition to Gears of War: E-Day, and Playground Games’ Fable reboot, early screen time was dedicated to Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Fans were treated to a first look at not just reimagined portions of the original game’s story, but completely new content not present in Combat Evolved.
Campaign Evolved adds three new missions
As revealed during Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Halo: Campaign Evolved launches July 28, 2026, for Xbox consoles, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
By far the biggest draw for Halo fans, Campaign Evolved’s three new missions expand on the original’s lore, with one taking place before the UNSC’s first contact with the Forerunner’s titular Halo installations.
Brutes, Elites, Prophets, and all of the other Covenant races make their grand return, with one missiong even having Chief partake in some space combat. If you ever wanted to assault a Covenant warship in space, now’s your chance, by the looks of it.
Whether this version of Master Chief’s first adventure will contain a sneaky new ending remains to be seen, but judging by the trailer, we only know what two of the three new missions entail, so who knows.
Considering that little more than a month stands between Halo fans and peppering Covenant hordes with an appropriated Needler, expect more info soon.
