KFC made a huge promise to the new owner of Colonel Sanders’ former house by giving them free food for a full year.
In May, KFC founder Colonel Sanders’ former house in Mississauga, Ontario went on sale, leaving many fans surprised to know the fast food icon lived in Canada.
Sanders lived in the home from 1965 until his death in 1980, after moving to the country to oversee KFC’s operations north of the border.
The house, located at 1337 Melton Drive, has undergone a series of major upgrades since Sanders lived there and as of June 25, the listing has been removed, suggesting someone has purchased the $1M property.
Not only will this new owner get a legendary piece of fast food history, though. They’ll also get a year of KFC for free.

KFC promises a year of free chicken for buying Colonel Sanders’ house
In a post on social media, KFC Canada highlighted the fact that the Colonel lived in Canada and had a Sanders’ lookalike vow to give free food to the new owner.
“If owning a piece of history isn’t incentive enough, I’m giving away a year’s supply of KFC to whoever buys it,” he explained.

The video featured the mascot walking through the house and interacting with potential buyers before presenting a makeshift contract for free KFC.
“Now that’s what we call a housewarming gift,” the chain captioned the clip.
It’s not clear exactly who bought it, or if it was suddenly taken off the market for other reasons, but this is just the latest of a brand cashing in on an unexpected viral story involving them.
Earlier this year, KitKat made headlines when thieves made off with more than 12 tons of KitKat bars by stealing a truck carrying 413,793 units. The chocolate company took advantage of the situation by giving its trucks presidential-level protection, turning the heist into a humorous moment.
