McDonald’s has officially confirmed that BT21 is the next franchise joining its Happy Meal lineup, with the BTS-inspired characters arriving at participating locations beginning July 14.
The announcement was shared by the official Happy Meal Instagram account on July 7, alongside promotional artwork featuring the eight BT21 characters emerging from a Happy Meal box.
The caption simply read: “moving at the speed of friendship! BT21 Happy Meal out July 14th.”
The artwork also includes the BT21 logo alongside the Happy Meal branding, confirming the collaboration between McDonald’s and the popular character franchise created by BTS in partnership with LINE FRIENDS.
What is BT21?
BT21 launched in 2017, with each BTS member helping create their own original character in collaboration with LINE FRIENDS. Rather than representing the members themselves, each character has its own name, personality, and backstory.
The lineup includes KOYA, RJ, SHOOKY, MANG, CHIMMY, TATA, COOKY, and VAN, the latter representing BTS’ fanbase, ARMY.

Since its debut, BT21 has grown into a global brand with plush toys, apparel, accessories, cosmetics, collectibles, and collaborations with major retailers and companies around the world.
In 2024, the chain released a limited-edition BT21 Happy Meal in Mexico featuring seven collectible figures based on characters created by BTS members, prompting fans to line up to complete the full set.
The BT21 promotion follows McDonald’s previous Happy Meal collaboration with FIFA, which introduced a lineup of exclusive Squishmallows toys ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The collection featured soccer-themed versions of popular Squishmallows characters, with fans able to collect the plush-inspired toys through Happy Meals. BT21 now becomes the latest franchise to receive the collectible Happy Meal treatment, with the collaboration set to launch on July 14.
