Apex Legends x Cyberpunk collab turns players into cyberpsychos if they abuse new implants

Apex Legends x Cyberpunk collab turns players into cyberpsychos if they abuse new implants

Every gaming universe wants a piece of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners lately, and who could blame them. Lucy and Rebecca just wrapped up a whole Wuthering Waves crossover back in June, so it was only a matter of time before Night City found its way into Apex Legends too.

Respawn confirmed on July 7 that Sparrow becomes David and Axle becomes Lucy, and the collab drops on July 14 with a mythic gun, a full map makeover, and one genuinely brilliant new way for players to lose their minds if they get greedy with their cyberware.

Release date

The event begins on July 14 and runs through August 14, 2026.

Rather skip the grind and just buy your way into the aesthetic? The standalone Cyberpunk Collection sticks around a bit longer in the store, through August 18.

New Legend skins

Eight Legends get pulled into Night City this time: Axle, Sparrow, Lifeline, Crypto, Rampart, Loba, Ash, and Gibraltar. Sparrow becomes David, Axle becomes Lucy, Rampart becomes Rebecca, Gibraltar becomes Royce, Ash becomes Lizzy Wizzy, and Loba becomes Panam.

Respawn and CD Projekt Red reportedly matched each Legend to whichever Edgerunners character suited their personality best, and honestly, it tracks. Lifeline and Crypto are confirmed for skins too, though which characters they’re borrowing from hasn’t been revealed, and neither has pricing for any of it.

Weapon skins and the return of Skippy

Eight weapons get a glow-up alongside the Legends: Wingman, Charge Rifle, Mastiff, L-STAR, P2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber. None of them matter quite as much as the mythic Alternator, though, since it brings back Skippy, the foul-mouthed talking pistol everyone remembers from Cyberpunk 2077, complete with reactive audio and absolutely zero self-restraint.

Feed it exotic shards, and it unlocks new finishers and visual tiers, and players even get to pick which version of Skippy comes along for the ride: Puppy Loving Pacifist or Stone Cold Killer. He’ll have an opinion about your gameplay regardless of which one you choose.

Apex Legends Season 29 patch notes: New Legend Axle, Deathbox Respawns, buffs and nerfs

New cyberware, and why it stays in Wildcard

Both new mods live inside Wildcard mode only, so nobody’s ranked grind is about to turn into Night City overnight.

Sandevistan channels David’s speed: it lets players chain quick dashes in any direction while recharging shields at the same time, which makes it genuinely useful for closing distance or slipping away from a fight gone sideways.

Blackwall Breach leans into Lucy’s netrunner instincts instead, since it phases players into the network to reposition before firing off an EMP blast that cracks enemy shields and gives away their location.

Cyberpsychosis, or what happens if you get greedy

Cyberware use fills a meter over time, and once that meter maxes out, a player doesn’t just get a slap on the wrist. They turn into a full cyberpsycho instead, which means losing every gun, every ability, every shield, and every explosive in exchange for pure melee damage at absurd speed.

Lead Technical Designer Jesse Medellin has said the mechanic exists specifically so players feel the real cost of leaning too hard on their implants, and matches apparently got delightfully chaotic in Respawn’s own playtests once people started tipping over the edge.

Immunoblocker Syringes scattered across the map, along with Immunoblocker Caches that instantly drain the meter, are the only way back before it’s too late.

E-District becomes Night City

The map gets dressed up to match the theme too, so expect towering neon skyboxes, corpo billboards, floating holo koi, and glitching signage scattered across E-District for as long as the event runs. Same map, entirely different mood.

Rewards store and the Youtooz plushies

Eddies earned throughout the event unlock a dedicated Rewards Store, which includes an epic Arasaka Flight Protocol skin for Valkyrie and an epic Kang Tao Specter skin for Mirage, among other prizes. Outside the game entirely, Apex is teaming up with Youtooz for two limited edition Nessie plushies modeled after Lucy and Rebecca, both open for preorder from July 15 through August 18.

Everything else riding along

A handful of smaller changes are tagging along with the event too. Wildcard’s map rotation is shifting to 90 minutes after players asked for it, evolved Bot Royale lobbies are shrinking down to a single squad to fix long queues and mismatched skill levels, and Respawn says it’s still hunting down the FPS drops that have been hitting specific CPUs.

It’s a lot to pack into one collection event, and coming this soon after the Apex Legends x Gundam event, Respawn clearly isn’t slowing down its pop culture raids anytime soon. Anyone wanting the full picture of what else changed heading into this season should check out our Season 29 patch notes coverage, since Axle’s kit and the rest of Overclocked are all laid out there.
